LG GD900 Crystal: See-through phone
11 Jun

In recent months we have several times with details of the LG teased GD900 Crystal, with a first glance, in February, followed by more details and a video in April. LG have their time to tell us the specifications of the Crystal, presumably because they know that they have more coverage in the media that way.Of course, the transparent keyboard offers most of the initial “wow” factor, but the LG Crystal has a lot more than just a trick of the sleeve. Both the keyboard and the large 3 “touch screen is sensitive, and can be used in a variety of ways. For example, the keypad can be used as a mouse, a touch wheel, it can be used for gesture control, Handwriting recognition or multi-touch control .. and of course, as a standard keyboard.
The display is not only a contact-sensitive, but also in high resolution with 800 x 480 pixels – much better than the current model of the iPhone.
The LG GD900 Crystal, the new S-class user interface, as listed at the ARENA. In addition to Crystal comes with a multimedia player seems to be that the situation, with just over a full Web browser, messaging functions and a document viewer.
The camera on the LG Crystal seems to be quite good. It is an 8-megapixel unit with autofocus, although we still do not know whether it is a Flash or Video capture what it is – but the latest high-end LG phones are very good for video recording.
It is a dual-band UMTS device with HSDPA support for download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, as well as quad-band GSM and WiFi support. Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0 port is located on the LG to Crystal.
LG say that the Crystal’s 1000 mAh battery can power it for up to 4 hours talktime on 3G and 6 hours on GSM, with a standby time of about 12 days. That is very impressive for a phone of this kind
In most European countries, the LG Crystal is exclusively through the Carphone Warehouse Phone House chain of shops, and LG say it is from 1 July. An estimated selling price pitches the LG Crystal at around 450 SIM-free, which is about the same price as the Arena.
This is a fabulous looking device, and it is a very clever alternative to the army of the iPhone clones. The only thing that we clearly can see missing is GPS, which is a bit of a shame. We strongly suspect that this particular phone to fly off the shelves when the stores in July.
